Dr Helen Wright joined the University of Hull in 1997 as a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1999 and since 2009 has been leader of the Simulation and Visualization (SimVis) research group. Her background is in theoretical crystallography and numerical analysis, having held research and computing support positions at the Universities of York and Leeds. She has worked in the field of scientific visualization since 1990 and was a co-founder of the Hull Immersive Visualization Environment, which officially opened in 2004. In 2005 she was invited to become a member of the Numerical Algorithms Group Ltd and in 2012 became an international advisor for the DESTINO research group at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Cali, Colombia. Her book on scientific visualization was published by Springer in 2007.
